Overview
This professional-level exposition of the Smalcald Articles, a key Lutheran confession, is the fruit of extensive research and years of service in God’s kingdom by Professor John Meyer (1873–1964). It discusses the historical background of this confession and the doctrinal content of each article in rigorous detail. The volume compiles Meyer’s writings on the subject, which were originally published in The Northwestern Lutheran (now Forward in Christ) during the 1960s. The text of the Smalcald Articles is the English translation contained in the Concordia Triglotta (1921).
