Overview
The ESV Study Bible (ESVSB) was created to help people understand the Bible in a deeper way—to understand the timeless truth of God’s Word as a powerful, compelling, life-changing reality. To accomplish this, the ESV Study Bible combines the best and most recent evangelical Christian scholarship with the highly regarded ESV Bible text. The result is the most comprehensive study Bible ever published, the winner of 2009 Christian Book of the Year, and 2009 winner of best Bible in its category.
Created by an outstanding team of ninety-five evangelical Christian scholars and teachers, the ESV Study Bible presents completely new study notes, maps, illustrations, charts, timelines, articles, and introductions. Altogether, the ESV Study Bible comprises two million words of Bible text, insightful explanation, teaching, and reference material—equivalent to a 20-volume Bible resource library all contained in one volume.
It includes 20,000 notes, written specifically for the ESV Study Bible. These notes focus especially on understanding the meaning of the text, giving answers to frequently raised questions, and providing theological, historical, and archaeological background—all for the purpose of helping readers to understand the Bible in a deeper way.
The ESV Study Bible also provides a wealth of additional resources. The introductions to each book include essential information about the author, date, and place of writing; an extensive chart of key themes; a summary of how the book fits in with the rest of the biblical storyline; a description of literary features; an outline of the book; and a large full-color map showing the setting of the book. The paper back version on this product is really good. Logos did a bad job implementing this into its software and for this reason I cannot recommend you buy it. You ONLY NEED THE NOTES. This should NOT be offered with the ESV bible as most packages of logos already comes with the ESV version. THE ESV Study Bible is nothing more than commentary notes with links to the actual bible passage. This means several things, 1) You cannot highlight like you would a normal bible. 2) you cannot use this functionally in anyway on a mobile or tablet device as you have to have multiple windows open for the actual bible, and 3) you do not need to buy the package deal. In fact, I do not think that if you owned the ESV bible you could actually open another resource tab. With that said, I wish I could get a refund. It was implemented horribly. I would very much prefer 1 resource tab for the book with everything on one tab. Buyer needs to be aware that these are just notes with resource links and that is all. you are better off getting the paper back version if you do reading on the go or away from a PC or laptop.Paul Klimek
