Overview
The Bible was first translated into Japanese by Jesuit missionaries in the sixteenth century. The Shinkaiyaku Seisho, or New Japanese Bible, was first published by the Japanese Bible Society in 1970. It was among the first complete Japanese Bibles translated wholly from the original Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek. Today the Shinkaiyaku Bible is the predominant translation used among Protestant denominations in Japan. The translators adopted an essentially literal translation philosophy, aiming to balance word-for-word and thought-for-thought translation strategies, comparable to the English Standard Version.

Por fin llegará la Biblia japonesa (versión Shinkayaku), el 14/Febrero/2025. Esperemos que tenga Ruby (furigana) para los Kanjis. The Japanese Bible Shinkayaku is finally coming out on 2/14/2025. Hopefully it will have Ruby (furigana) for the Kanji.

I am using the Mac version of Logos, but the punctuation placement looks strange. I would also appreciate it if the font could be improved. Since I understand that you are also working on the “New Japanese Bible 2017” (Shinkaiyaku 2017), I look forward to future improvements.Brendan Morgan

Thank you Logos for publishing this Japanese Bible. I had been hoping to get a Japanese Bible in Logos. I would like to request the 2017 version though if possible. Also, if there was any way to enable Ruby text (furigana) over the kanji, that would be extremely helpful as well.cmeric

To say that we are Christians, we sure don’t display much patience. Even if this Japanese Bible doesn’t get released until 2027, it won’t stop God’s plan. I trust in what I know about God to be true, more than my personal feelings or emotions. God knows how to get His Word to all people—with this Bible or without it. I get it—we just want to know when. This isn’t a personal attack on anyone here, but rather a call for us as Christians to trust in what we know about God to be true: that He knows what He’s doing. The issue is that we, as humans, tend to think, “Japan needs this now! Hurry up so it can help!”—as if there aren’t already Bibles being used somewhere. We think, “The more, the better,” but that’s just human reasoning. Don’t you all agree that God, who is in charge of everything, knows how to run His plans perfectly? Remember Elijah in the Old Testament? He thought he was the only prophet left and was afraid of Jezebel, but God reassured him that he wasn’t alone. In other words, we need to stop stressing about when and start practicing patience. Don’t you agree? As Christians, we should focus on prayer and encouragement, trusting in God’s timing rather than our own. Let’s support this effort with faith and patience, showing the world the maturity and unity we are called to have in Christ.
