Overview
The Testament of Abraham, a pseudepigraphic (or falsely attributed) work, is thought to have been written by a Jewish Christian in the first or second century. It deals with Abraham’s death—both his reluctance to enter into the death, and the manner in which he died. Montague Rhodes James provides an introductory history of this apocalyptic book, its influence on later literature and how it fits into other Jewish and Christian literature. Both the short and long recensions of the text are included.
